I recently had the pleasure of working with Dustin Allen of Reformed Roofing to help him build his company brand and website.
As a Christian company Dustin wanted to choose a name that would speak of his faith and give homage to the Christian Reformation. So that’s how Reformed Roofing was born.
When we met, I got to hear his story and explanation of why he chose the name, and I immediately started to get a vision for the logo in my head. In the process, I played around with many different concepts, but in the end we ended up with my original concept.
Since Reformed signifies the Reformation, I thought it would be cool idea to incorporate Martin Luther’s 95 Thesis being nailed to the door. And because it is a roofing company, I angled the shape of a scroll to look like a roof, while at the same time looking like a roof shingle to those who might not get the “Reformed” reference.
During the brainstorming process we were also trying to come up with some catchy slogans that would describe what the business does in a creative way. Since a large part of Reformed Roofing’s business is centered on roof repair from storm and hail damage, we ultimately decided it was best to go in that direction, and as I result I was able to come up with “roof reform after the storm”.
